So why am I here?

I have long wondered about life and why humankind needed to have religions and faith systems. Was it insecurity? Fear? A promise of a better future after an arduous, difficult and painful existence? As soon as man started planting crops and herding animals he had to endure the vagaries of the weather. Enough water was needed to grow produce for both himself and his animals. Early hunter gatherers followed the seasons and wandered to wherever food was available. Man was at the mercy of the elements. We still are today!
Why then was it necessary for the sun and the moon to be worshipped? Why were elemental deities invented for rain, wind and fire? Students of philosophy will argue this subject for  long time. However I suppose that if you are given an opportunity to look at a better future, one where you do not have to scrape the bare earth and become permanently bent in the process; where there is plenty of everything you need; no more pain and misery, then you would probably try anything to achieve that ambition. So if an individual were to promise apparent relief from your suffering you might do what he suggests, whatever it might be.
So, why am I here? It is my hope that what I have to offer you will make your life better. You yourself have the power and the will to do this, I shall merely point the way. All I ask of you is to close your eyes, relax and commit to memory the simple instructions. Above all, and this is really where the power comes from, let your imagination run riot. Anyone who has ever achieved anything worthwhile in the world imagined it first. A dream can become reality.

Believe it!

How much is this service going to cost you did I hear you ask? After all as the saying goes 'there's no such  thing as a free lunch'. Well actually this is a free lunch.

The best things in life are free!

It is a well established fact that as we relax so our breathing becomes slower and deeper. What is not generally known is that the reverse is also true.

Try this very simple exercise as a preparation for the technique described on the next page. It will also improve your concentration.

Sit where it is quiet and comfortable and close your eyes. I want you to feel everything that happens as you draw in a deep breath through your nose and hold for four seconds. Notice and feel your chest rising as the breath is taken in. Feel the cool air passing through your nose and throat and then into your lungs. Feel the muscles of your chest expanding. Breathing slowly out again to the count of eight  feel the sensation of your lungs and chest relaxing, and of the air being pushed out . Notice the slight increase in pressure that takes place in your nose as the air is exhaled. Feel all these things, all these sensations. Concentrate on nothing else as you repeat the process for as long as you can.
You will not manage many breaths at first without other thoughts invading your concentration but practice and practice. Eventually you will find your ability to concentrate greatly improved together with a depth of peace you may never have experienced before.

The main thing I want you to remember is RELAX. Sorry to shout but you need to shut out all that hubbub that currently occupies your mind. Countless thoughts each clamouring for attention. Imagine reaching out for a switch - and turn them OFF!
